Cool Stuff I Get To Do Because I Have Kids: Make Up New Traditions

One of the (many) things I love doing as our family grows and grows up is enjoying family traditions together.

Some traditions are timeless and borrowed from mine or Hubby's families growing up, including blowing out candles on a birthday cake at birthdays, roast dinner on a Sunday and religious customs.

Others are traditions which we have started for our own family. For at least three years now we have put reindeer food out on the lawn on Christmas Eve. Another one of our family traditions which has been going on for that long is an Easter egg hunt on Easter Sunday morning.

Last week, it was ANZAC day, and this year we did something new. We lit a fire in the backyard. It was our first fire. (Well, technically, that isn't true, as there was a bonfire at our housewarming party when I was pregnant with MissyMoo1 (5) which involved drunken men and palm fronds. I stayed inside for that one.) It was our first family fire. MissyMoo1 and MissyMoo2 (2) had a great time collecting sticks and enjoying the sunshine in the yard. MissyMoo3 (7 months) played on and with the grass. The Fat Cat was intrigued. Hubby was happy because it cleared up the yard. I was happy enjoying the fire, the sunshine and taking photos.

Started first time - Hubby is awesome!

We called it our first inaugural family ANZAC Day fire. We might remember to do it again next year!
