House Build: The Foundations of the Next Stage in Our Lives

It amazes me how quickly things are moving at this stage of the building process.

A couple of weeks ago, the earthworks all happened and I was getting excited about things finally moving visibly.

Since then, things have been zooming along at warp speed!

First it was preparations for the slab:

Then, you guessed it, the slab was poured. This was the scene in the morning as the work was beginning. Yes, I was the crazy lady driving up a road in which nobody lives to take photos as the workmen were going about their jobs - they'd be used to that kind of thing, right?

Here's the after shot that afternoon:

A couple of days later, there was a new delivery!!

Our strong, gorgeous steel frame :-)

The frame should be going up soon. I can't wait. Stay tuned for more photos!

  1. That is so exciting. They delivered the roof for our veranda today so that should be waiting for us when we get home from work today.

We are still, very slowly, trying to agree on plans for the granny flat - this seems to be taking f.o.r.e.v.e.r. !!!!!

    Have a great weekend !

  2. There is a house being built next door to us at the moment, and it is amazing how quickly it is going up. One minute a bare block - the next minute there is a house on there! I think most of the time is spent finishing the inside etc.

    1. Yeah, that's what is happening with us. I'm sure it will feel like progress is really slow once they're doing the inside, because we won't be able to see the changes as we drive past.
